[ Product Details: The Origin of Braid ]
Braid is our flagship product.
This particular braid is made by weaving together eight strands of rayon yarn.
It has a luster like silk and is highly flexible.
It is available in a wide range of colors, and can be used for a variety of purposes, such as handicrafts and packaging and a fastener for pouches.
In Japanese, it is traditionally called Hachiuchi (8-strand) or Edo-uchi.
The history of cords is longer than one might imagine; it is known that cords were used during the Jomon Period to tie clothing onto the clay figurines made during that era.
During the Asuka and Nara Periods (AD538), braids known as karakumi (Chinese braids) and kouraikumi (Korean braids) entered Japan, along with the teachings of Buddhism, and braiding techniques began to develop.
During the Edo Period (17th century), braids were used on armor by samurai.
Various techniques were developed for tying cords, according to their use, such as the cords on helmets and the cords used to attach sword scabbards to the belts of warriors.
Braid-tying became a standard part of education and it came to be said that "a person who cannot tie a braid is not independent".
In 1882, industrial braid manufacturing machinery was introduced to Japan from Barmen in Germany, and braid-making became industrialized.
In modern times, although traditional crafts and industry have become separated, the traditional techniques and color schemes of the past remain and braids are used in various fields as a long-lasting product.

[ Our manufacturing site ]
In most cases, the yarn is dyed in the skein.
This reduces the unevenness in color and disparities between the inside and outside of the material that results from the dyeing of rayon cakes.

Dyeing using 30 shades of ready-made dyes - up to 200 rolls (fine cord) can be dyed per day

Drying machine (intake)

Drying machine (outlet)

Overview of the factory
(There are more than 1,000 machines here) Fully equipped with production tools and jigs, the integrated process means that everything including maintenance can be carried out.

Rayon yarn doubling
The yarn is woven here from multiple threads, with 4 threads used for the fine braid, 7 for the medium, 9 for the medium-thick, and 14 for the thick.
On both sides, the new threads (red threads) become shorter as they go further inside (orange) and are left aside, to ensure that there is no waste in terms of the distance to the bobbin.

Doubling and twisting machine
This enables everything from the twisting of the original yarn to the yarn doubling to be carried out in the same place.
There are 124 of these machines in the factory.

We take care to ensure that we manufacture high-quality cord - the 8 strands (both rayon and nylon) undergo S-twisting for half of their length and Z-twisting for the other half. (Items where the cord is loose are deemed to have no twist)

There are always two colors on the small bobbins. We always ensure that a vertical column is woven the same way.

Scene of finishing process
Each employee is in charge of a specific column and they put a finish on each type of product (because the number of times this is required and the size of the spool differs depending on the product)
The entire process from start to finish and a finish on an original roll are done by hand for each roll.
